James “Jim” Stewart Cantyne Sr., 77, of Hilo, formerly of Waimea, died Nov. 18 at home. Born in Paia, Maui, he was a former security officer at several hotels, assistant store manager for the former Sure Save and retired U.S. Army sergeant first class who served two combat tours in the Vietnam War. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Monday (Nov. 28) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Melvyn Eugene De La Mare, 78, of Keaau died Nov. 12 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Salt Lake City, he was a retired paramedic for the Salt Lake City Fire Department and owner of Perma Bond Fiberglass. Services held.
